Pull off I-40 and you'll find something rare along this stretch of Route 66 country: a lodge where the bartender knows your name by your second drink and the members actually mean it when they say you're welcome here. Gallup Elks Lodge #1440 has earned a 4.6-star reputation not through marketing, but through the kind of straightforward hospitality that keeps traveling Elks circling back year after year.

The lodge sits at 1112 Susan Ave with sweeping views of the high desert terrain that makes this corner of New Mexico unlike anywhere else on the map. Members gather here for cold beers, good conversation, and the shared purpose that has defined the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks since its founding. Bartender Chris has become something of a local legend among RV travelers who've passed through, and the Exalted Ruler keeps the welcome mat out for visiting members from every corner of the country.

Gallup itself sits at 6,500 feet, surrounded by red rock mesas and the Navajo Nation, and the lodge reflects that grounded, no-nonsense character. This isn't a place that tries too hard. It just delivers.

What We Offer

Traveling Elks pulling a 36-foot 5th wheel or a compact Class B will find three dedicated RV hookup sites: one 15-amp, one 30-amp, and one 50-amp. The spots are mostly level, easy to navigate, and priced well below commercial campground rates. A swimming pool on-site makes a summer stop in the high desert genuinely refreshing after a long day on Route 66.

Beyond RV accommodations, the lodge offers a full bar and lounge where members and their guests can unwind, catch the game, or swap road stories over a cold drink. Regular lodge events bring the local Gallup membership together throughout the year, from charitable fundraisers to social nights. Visiting Elks in good standing are encouraged to stop in, show their card, and enjoy the facilities as if they were home.

Non-member locals interested in joining the Order can connect with lodge officers to learn about membership. The Elks have been supporting communities across America for well over a century, and Lodge #1440 carries that tradition forward right here in Gallup, NM.

"Friendly lodge with RV parking and a pool. The ER, the bartender (Chris), and the members made us feel welcome. They have an area where you can hook up to 3 rvs (1-15 amp, 1-30 amp, and 1-50 amp). No water or sewer/dump. Large, heated pool and great views."

"We are traveling Elks in our 36' 5th wheel. We stopped at the Gallup, NM Elk's Lodge, for one night. The RV parking was mostly level and easy to get into. The local Elk's members were very friendly and welcoming. Hopefully, we get to stay at this lodge in the future."

"Very friendly and helpful lodge to a travelling Elk. Space for a limited number of RVs and even a power outlet. A side benefit if RVing is the beautiful view from their property. Their pool looked clean, well kept, and inviting. I will return here when back in the area."
